Apple TV suddenly won't open & play program
can open Apple TV on my iMac . It will open but it won't play. screen gores black

Per chance are you trying to play content that has DRM restrictions? Is the TV app not able to play any content or just one specific one?
Have you tried any of the following:
- Simply restarting the Apple TV app?
- Verify that your Mac is running the latest version of macOS?
- Tried different content?
- SIgned out, and then back into your Apple Account via Apple TV > Account?
- Temporarily disabling HDR on the Apple TV? Go to System Settings > Displays, select your display, and check if HDR is enabled. If so, try disabling it.
- Removing, and then, reinstalling the Apple TV app from the Apple App Store?
Finally, try playing the content in Safari.
- Visit tv.apple.com in Safari and try playing something there. If it works in the browser but not the app, the issue is local to the app and not your account or DRM.
