I can't link my SIM card to my iPhone

I updated my carrier, and changed my SIM card accordingly, but the phone number remained the same. At the same time, the iPhone writes the following to me: "To use the number for iMessage and FaceTime, you need a SIM card connected to your Apple device." How can I fix this? iOS 18.5
