How to update my iPhone, or should I buy an iPhone for AirPods Pro 2?

My iPhone has version 16.7.11 which limits the functionality of the pro2.

settings indicate that I am up to date.

how can I update or must I purchase a new iPhone?

The iPhone 8 is not compatible with anything later than iOS 16.

If you want the full functionality of the AirPods Pro 2, you'll need a newer phone.

You might want to wait a week or two to see what comes out of Apple's WWDC, which kicks off on Tuesday, before making a decision on what model phone to buy.
