Hi,

To unlock a MacBook that's been reported as lost and removed from iCloud, you'll need to use the passcode you set during the "Mark as Lost" processor, if you forgot that, access iCloud.com/find. If the passcode is incorrect, you may need to contact Apple support.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. Accessing the "Mark as Lost" functionality:

  • iCloud: If you've reported your MacBook as lost through Find My on your other devices, you can access its "Mark as Lost" status and unlock options through iCloud.com/find

2. Using the Passcode:

  • Intel-based Mac (without T2 security chip): Enter the numeric passcode you set when you marked the Mac as lost. If you forgot it, you can try to recover it through iCloud.com/find.
  • Mac with Apple silicon: You'll likely need your Apple ID password to unlock the device.

3. If you've forgotten the passcode or can't access your Apple ID:

  • Contact Apple Support: They can assist you with unlocking your Mac, especially if you have proof of purchase.
  • Visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider: They can also help with unlocking.

4. Removing the device from Find My (if you're the previous owner):

  • Sign out of your iCloud account:
  • If you've removed your account from the Mac, you can't unlock it remotely through Find My.
  • Remove the device from Find My:
  • You can do this by signing in to iCloud.com/find and selecting your Mac from the Devices menu, then choosing the "Remove Device" option.

Important Considerations:

  • Activation Lock:
  • Activation Lock is a security feature that prevents others from using your Mac without your permission, even if they erase the device.
  • Proof of Purchase:
  • If you can't unlock your Mac, you'll likely need to provide proof of purchase to Apple or an Authorized Service Provider.
  • Lost Mode:
  • Lost Mode, activated when you report a Mac as lost, allows you to track its location, play a sound, and lock the device.

By following these steps and consulting Apple Support if needed, you should be able to unlock your MacBook and regain access to your device.
