I want to buy brand new Macbook Air 13 inches from Amazon and shipped it to my daughter address. It is sold and shipped by Amazon.com. My question: is the apple one year warranty applicable ?

Apple computers sold by Amazon do qualify for Apple's one year warranty. I would advise that you keep copies of any sales invoices, receipts, communications and emails, especially those that note the Mac's serial number. Should there be any question of coverage, those may be required as proof of purchase.
Amazon is an Authorized Apple Reseller in the U.S.
If it is new and is sold by Amazon (not another "Sold by" in the listing), it should have a standard Apple Warranty.

Keep in mind Apple will consider you the registered owner of that device. So if your daughter ever needs Apple to unlock the device for any reason, then you will need to handle it.....probably in person. That could be a severe inconvenience if it is a time sensitive need to use the laptop.
