Safari keeps logging me out of gmail and other sites

History: I used an old mid-2011 iMac for ages until it was unbearably slow. Loved it. After I donated it, I used a Windows 10 PC which was a surprisingly smooth experience. Now: I finally got a Mac Mini M4 recently. It's lovely, but something about the configuration of the OS and/or Safari keeps logging me out of iCloud, Gmail, Facebook, and other sites. I have to keep re-verifying my login, even multiple times within a day. I turned off advanced tracking and fingerprinting, but it didn't help. While I appreciate the efforts at privacy protections, this is cumbersome and annoying. Any suggestions?

I found the answer in another thread (Why does Safari log me out when I remove … - Apple Community. I was used to clearing my Safari data on an old device w/o getting logged out of various sites (It was a useful space saving thing to do). When I do that with the Mac mini M4, Safari automatically logs me out - the other thread I recently found explained that I can press the option key when choosing Clear History, and the selection becomes Clear History and Keep Website Data. In that case, I won't get logged out of sites. This was not something that happened with the older Mac and older versions of Safari that I used.
