iPad/iPhone volume increases/decreases in stages not continuous

When listening to Apple Music on my bluetooth Ear Fun airpods I would like to increase/decrease the volume ever so slightly and not in preset stages. For example, if volume is at 30% and I use either the buttons or the sliding volume control it jumps to 35%, and then 40 and then 45. Is there a way to adjust the volume in finer increments? I downloaded Volume Pro app from the Apple Store but still no luck. My Ear Fun airpods to have a button to increase/decrease volume but it causes Apple Music to increase/decrease in stages. I have the latest ios updates.
