Why are Final Cut Pro X updates so big and frequent?

Can anyone at Apple please explain why I need to download these giant updates all the time? I presume in SF this is just a couple of seconds but here in the boonies it is a few hours of download. This is also a HUGE environmental issue which just seems to be swept under the carpet.

Yes I know that - I've been an Apple developer since the early eighties. What I'd like to know is why. Many years ago at WWDC Apple touted it's new frameworks for incremental updates or some such PR speak. It's not rocket science but at last they'd cracked the ability to patch an existing codebase instead of re-uploading the entire thing. What happened? Where did it go? Why on earth, in this day and age, are we still downloading these ridiculous files when 99% of what we're downloading is unchanged? I also remember when Apple had an "eco" slant to their evangelising, that seems to have faded from sight as well.

One think I would NOT call FCP updates, is "frequent." Absolutely not...

I download FCP updates for a local church, who is on very basic home Internet, and even then, over WiFi (not the best, trust me). Only takes about 10 minuets for FCP to update. I've never seen "hours" to update any app. Is someone still on dial-up Internet service? Sorry, I don't buy that it takes "hours." And I'm a retired IT engineer.
