Why won't my MacBook Air connect to Wi-Fi when other devices work?

My MacBook recently stopped connecting to WiFi. Other devices (like my phone and tablet) work fine on the same network, but my MacBook doesn’t connect at all. This issue appeared suddenly without any system updates or changes. I’ve already tried forgetting the network and reconnecting, restarting the MacBook, and resetting the router, but nothing has worked so far.

There is a difference between connecting to WiFi and being able to access the Internet. Does your WiFi show as connected with any or hopefully all of the three curved bars on the WiFi icon on the menubar as black? If so, then you are connecting, but not able to access the Internet (or possible the local network). Can you access the router's admin portal by entering the router's IP address?

And have you tried booting into Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference? If it works in Safe Mode, then it most likely means you have some third party software installed which is interfering with the normal operation of macOS. Usual culprits are anti-virus software, cleaning/optimizer apps, third party security software, and VPNs.
