How can I convert Pages to an email on my MacBook Pro?

I have prepared a multi page document word processing Pages but now discover that this text must be changed so as to be an email letter , with continuous narrative as a " Letter to the Editor" it it is to be sent to a newspaper for publication as received and so as to avoid need for retyping.

Pages has no provision for exporting a word-processing document as a new textual Mail body. Instead, the Export panel > Send a Copy > Mail attaches the exported content to the email body. Even the Plain Text option.

Your best bet, given the newspaper's submission criterion is to use a font common to Mac and Windows which is Times New Roman. Then copy/paste the contents of that Pages document to an Apple Mail compose window. It will not appear as it does in Pages, though the font is preserved. The newspaper will very likely change the font and formatting to those used for their publication typesetting software.
