Changed number, what happens to shared documents

I have a few shared Keynote (and other Apple app) documents. Either documents I have created and shared or that others have created and then shared with me.

Those documents have been shared to a mobile number, and recently I’ve had to change my number to something different. What happens to those documents? Do they automatically transfer to the new number?… or do I need to ask anyone who’s shared a document with me to reshare them?… Thank you!

Assuming iCloud is the basis of your sharing, then the item being shared relies on your Apple Account as the basis of determining ownership. If you simply altered your Apple Account credentials by changing its associated phone number, that should work. That process is described in "Change your Apple Account primary phone number to a different mobile number" here.

Actually even though it’s my old number displayed in the ‘manage share options’ I can still view and edit things and it all syncs to everyone. This doesn’t ‘feel’ right. Something is awry with that doesn’t feel secure that an old number, that someone else will eventually have potentially is what’s displayed.

Yes I changed the primary number on my account. I’ve just checked and contacted some of the people who have shared keynote decks with me and it shows as the old number in the managed sharing prefs.

Hopefully you used an iPhone or iPad and performed step 4 in the article I linked above to remove the old number.
