If your MacBook Air is new enough to run macOS 14.7 (Sonoma), that implies that it is from 2018 or later, has a SSD, and has at least 8 GB of RAM.

Discord seems to be some sort of messaging and social media application. There is a page on the Discord site that lists system requirements. It contains information about minimum OS versions and browser versions, but does not seem to have any details on how fast your hardware (CPU, GPU) has to be.

If things have "become slower", that would suggest that

  • You are filling the SSD to the brim,
  • You are running software that is taking up a lot of resources,
  • You have started doing things that require more resources (e.g., video chat as opposed to text messages), or
  • You have problems with the speed of your Internet connection
