Why do all my widgets get deleted from my MacBook Pro desktop every time I update macOS?

every time I update my MacBook Pro it instantly deletes all the widgets I have on my homescreen. I’ve put off the last update for over a month because I knew this was going to happen again. Does anyone have a solution for this. I feel like apple has digressed in software for the past 5 years and have done nothing to fix their bugs. Generally you’ll go about your day without even realizing something was fixed but rather I have the constant encounter of dealing with bugs and glitches on a daily basis. Have a tech savvy mind and still have issues. It’s gotten to the point I no longer upgrade every year because hardwares ok but software is unbearable at times!
