Garageband lowers the speed of my voice memos and won't allow easy remedy

I HAVE DISCOVERED THE ANSWER

I only use Apple. And I use voice memos to record ideas and music as I'm creating. The voice memo file plays fine from my phone, and in dropbox, iTunes , literally anywhere EXCEPT IN GARAGEBAND, where I do my editing and exporting of mp3 files.

Garageband, for some odd reason, will import all other types of soundfile without distortion, yet when it comes to apple iphone voice memo into garageband (apple product) it slows down the file speed and it plays with a comical lowering of pitch and timing.

I searched the forums, and I've called Apple support. Unfortunately, they keep referring as a solution UPDATES and other answers that do nothing..

luckily, after much work

You must open all voice memos in iTunes, and convert to MP3 files. be sure to search for the files in the place they are stored in your iMac, so you can easily find the new versions, and delete the M4a versions. Then you can add the new MP3 files to your GarageBand without speed distortion

You're welcome, Apple.

The reason to discover the files elsewhere, and not in iTunes, is for ease of knowing which version is the MP3. The new version doesn't say it's MP3 unless you search info, and its a lot of work to reopen each file and figure this out. Looking it up in the storage is so much quicker.

Happy trails.
