Keynote slide image is small on my iPad while mirroring

Previous versions of Keynote used to show a full image on my iPad while screen mirroring. I understand that the apsect ratio for my iPad is different than the projector/monitor I am using as well as the Keynote slides. I can get a full image on the iPad while mirroring and using the mark-up feature.

Is there any way to have the full image show on my iPad while mirroring? Thank you!

Are you sure you're using mirroring and not a secondary display?

The difference is that in mirroring, the two screens should be identical, whereas if the iPad thinks the external display is secondary, then it uses the iPad display as the presenter display which can be configured with other data such as timers, slide notes, next slide, etc.

TBH, I don't have my iPad close by right now to see how to toggle it, but that sounds like the issue to me.
