Hard to say. We have no idea what you're studying or what the requirements are for your courses.

You should ask your guidance counselor or teachers what they require or suggest for a better idea.

For most, and if portability is important a MacBook Air should be more than enough. No less than 24GB of RAM and 256GB of Storage. 512GB of storage would be recommended if budget allows. You'll also want a good external drive for backups.

If you need a desktop option, a Mac mini is great and very cheap. Though you do need to buy a monitor and peripherals for it.

The Mac that you never let out of your sight for an instant, or ask someone to watch for you — as that is just long enough for it to be stolen. Remember that.

The best Mac depends on your course of study and the applications required to fullfill the coursework. Presumably you want a portable Mac and that you would need it to last at least through undergraduate and potentially graduate studies. Since operating systems and applications just keep growing in memory and storage requirements, I would recommend 32 GB RAM and a 1 TB internal storage.

With that, I would also recommend a 2 TB external SSD drive that you would use with Apple's built in Time Machine so your Mac contents are backed up and recoverable. For my Apple Silicon MacBook Pro, that is its configuration and I use a Crucial X9 SSD (fits in the palm of your hand) for those backups. Spring for the extra AppleCare+ coverage.
