How do I fix my non-functional HomePod?

I have two of the original Home pods. Occasionally, only the left one will play. At other times, both play. When 1 doesn't play, I've tapped the top of the non-playing unit and it says 'paused', indicating to me it's powered up etc, but not getting a signal. Of course, my wi-fi is up and running as one unit does work.

I've tried unplugging the non-playing unit and plugging it back in, to no avail.

Is there a process I can check or do to get my non-playing unit to start playing again?

Thanks, Bob.

Well, my luck didn't hold. I tried listening to my Home Pods again and I'm down to the left speaker again. I tried re-starting my iMac, unplugging the right unit, all to no avail. The top of the right Home Pod is light up with the volume plus and minus sign and I hear a voice saying volume is raised or lowered depending on which icon I touch so I know it's got power.

Any ideas on how to get my Home Pod working again would be appreciated.

I got to working on my Home Pod problem last night and found an article in Apple Support that helped. It led me to the Home App on my iMac. There was a software update available which I downloaded and installed. I did a computer re-start and both Home Pods are now working. I've tried listening 3 separate times since then and all have been successful.

It appears the Home App might be the key to troubleshooting Home Pod problems.
