IOS 18.4.1 update makes audiobook-players (Audible and Saxo) skip and jump

After an overnight automatic update on my 15 Pro I can no longer play (any) audiobooks on either of my players! They both start skipping app. 30 seconds ahead, sometimes more, sometimes a whole chapter - and it doesn’t matter if I play on my AirPods or directly on the phone! So not a Bluetooth issue. Have uninstalled and reinstalled both apps, restarted the phone , all tested books are downloaded - so not a WiFi issue … what do I do?

Oh - I just realized that the same thing happens in Spotify and my radio app (DR Lyd) - jumping from song to song and changing the channel every few seconds!

Try unpairing the AirPods and re-pair to the iPhone - could be something odd going on with the AirPods themselves or its existing connection to the iPhone.

If the audio is skipping within different multiple apps, sometimes it could be that the headphones themselves are malfunctioning somehow (especially headphones which have action buttons - Play/Pause, skip forward/backward, etc.), this has happened to me time and again.

Try a different pair of headphones and see if the same behavior occurs.

When you say you play "directly on the phone", do you mean playing through the iPhone's built-in speaker?

Hi Steve

Yes, I meant that the same thing happened playing through the iPhones speakers ... has nothing to do with the headphones!

Strangely enough, I can now listen to my Danish book app without it skipping.

It sounds like there could be a software compatibility issue after the update. I recommend reaching out to the app developers for support or checking for any available app updates that may address this problem.

It isn't happening for me. Could be a virus, but I doubt it. Maybe try bringing it to an in-person apple store to have it fixed.
