The 'Set Wallpaper' command failing intermittently.
We have about 1000 Apple devices in our environment, and we have been noticing an issue since around December where the 'Set Wallpaper' MDM command tends to fail and cause our iPads to stop communicating with our MDM completely until they are manually restarted. As we are a School District, it is important that our custom wallpapers are applied as they display the name of the intended user for each device but due to this issue, we have been unable to apply wallpapers.
My question is: Have other users noticed this issue at all? I initially reached out to Mosyle support as we are using Mosyle to manage our devices, and they said that this was a known issue that Apple was aware of. I haven't been able to find any evidence of this being reported anywhere and I haven't seen it being mentioned in any iPadOS release notes. It would be nice to have a way to monitor this specific issue so we know when we can redeploy wallpapers again.
Here is some of that response from Mosyle:
Of note, we would like to share that we have an open Apple Feedback in regards to this occurrence as it is also impacting other MDM clients. As of February 26th, Apple has acknowledged this occurrence:

"The 'Set Wallpaper' command can intermittently fail. Affected devices will be unable to execute subsequent MDM commands and the device will be unable to check-in with the MDM."

At this time, they are currently tracking and investigating this. They have also stated that the only solution is to manually restart the device and the only workflow to prevent this occurrence is to cancel/disable any recurring deployments of the 'Set Wallpaper' command (the Wallpaper profile in Mosyle).
