Should I buy 8GB or 16GB RAM variant of MacBook Air M2 as a medical student?

I am a medical and surgery student, so I would need a computer that can handle large files, notes, 1000-page pdfs, and many books always in pdf. I don't know whether to take the version with 8GB of RAM or the 16GB RAM version. I state that it's a computer that has to last me for 6 years of university

The general rule is buy as much RAM and storage as you can afford.

Where, exactly, do you intend to buy this machine? The M2 based MBA was discontinued a year ago.

The new M4 based MBA is significantly faster and comes with 16GB of RAM in base form for less than the M2 or M3 based machines originally sold for.
