I am setting up an iPhone 16 Pro and can not see the ChatGPT extension under the Apple Intelligence Settings. I have a ChatGPT-paid account and am trying to link them. I am in LA, CA, and I have done all the latest updates.

the solution turned out to be a combo of two things:
Oakland CA. 16 pro. Ios 18.5
No extension option. Rebooted
Apple tech senior advisor clueless
Once you turn on Apple intelligence the extension has to download fully before the ChatGPT button is enabled.
All I can report is that I also use an iPhone 16 Pro (iOS 18.4) and under Settings->Apple Intelligence and Siri-> scrolling down about half way is the Extensions->ChatGPT and I am logged into my free account with no issues.
Did you fully set up and enable Apple intelligence before looking for the ChatGPT extension? You say you are in LA but is your iPhone 16 Pro set for the U.S. region and U.S. language? Did you buy the phone in the U.S. or another country?
Thank you. That is what I tried to do before. When I returned to the Apple Intelligence settings, the extension setting section was there. For some reason, when I checked before, the extension section was not there—I tripped checked! I was able to set it up. Thanks again.

I was having the same problem of a missing Chat GPT extension button. I think I figured it out though. When I first turned on Apple intelligence there was a message beneath the toggle that said it was downloading Apple intelligence and there was no ChatGPT extension. I was looking at the settings screen and the download message disappeared at exactly the same time the ChatGPT extension appeared. I’m assuming ChatGPT showed up because it finished downloading. May have been totally coincidental though

my Siri language voice was set to Australian even though everything else was US English. Language settings have to be consistent and supported.
