I have just bought my first Mac. A Studio M4 and a Studio display. Set them up and working fine. I then unplugged the Thunderbolt cable from the Studio and plugged it into my work laptop which also worked fine. Is there a way of not having to keep unplugging the cables from the machines or monitor.
A thunderbolt 2 into 1, an extender that I can leave in the back of the monitor and swap the cables going into that.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Take a closer look. It is two computers in and one out to monitor. Works both ways
It appears that using a display with TB connection complicates the issue as it must carry signals for the display plus other functions (camera, ports, etc.) You would need to investigate this. Another KVM switch advertised as TB ready may or may not work:
